The CRCNA has provided a formal submission to the Parliament of Australia on actions to improve energy, food and water security for Northern Australia based on CRCNA research and development findings.
The Joint Select Committee on Northern Australia Inquiry accepts submissions which outline:
- the context and extent of energy, food and water security in Northern Australia;
- the challenges and potential actions to improving energy, food and water security;
- the impact this has on communities, particularly remote communities;
- relevant Closing the Gap targets;
- the extent and efficacy of policy, legislative, regulatory and funding frameworks, including the overlap or any gaps between federal, state and territory frameworks.
The CRCNA’s submission includes information and recommendations relating to the CRCNA’s role in supporting the sustainable development of key industries in Northern Australia.
Our submission advocates for the interests of sustainable and inclusive development under the pillars of:
- Research, development and extension
- Building strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Institutions
- Lifting human and institutional capacity
- Energy, food, and water security
- Securing the future of investment in Northern Australian specific research and development.
We will continue to support the Government to overcome future challenges identified by the Joint Select Committee on Northern Australia.
