Summary

The project will assist the expansion of agriculture in the Lower Fitzroy (Central Queensland) by bridging the support gap to meet Reef Water Quality requirements.

Businesses undergoing material change use will have access to advice and land management toolkits to navigate the regulatory constraints, monitoring and record keeping practices necessary for production and operation.

This mechanism for continuous improvement will assist industry and tailored to specific regional needs.

Expected outcomes

This project will deliver specific outputs which will help Central Queensland producers better identify and understand reef water quality regulations and support practice change from within the Lower Fitzroy agricultural precinct.

Specifically the work will deliver :

Precinct wide sediment and nutrient plan accounting for new and expanding agriculture
Tools and training for land managers to improve WQ outcomes in the Lower Fitzroy.
Assessment of tools for their application more broadly across the GBR catchments.
Case studies demonstrating implementation process
Establishment of systems governance framework
Individual farm plans that meet the LMCP and Reef Regulations
