This Project is part of a wider collaboration between the CRCNA and Austrade to support the expansion of the agricultural industry in Northern Australia.
This report is the culmination of six months of deep engagement with stakeholders from the domestic and international investment community. The data and knowledge gained during this consultation process was used to analyse the agricultural investment environment in Northern Australia and develop an investor typology to assist in identifying potential investors for the region.
The report provides a clear set of strategic recommendations and next steps to support these recommendations across Northern Australia.
Projects
Northern Australia agriculture investor identification and analysis
The CRCNA identified the need to bring together the investment promotion, attraction and facilitation community to improve investment outcomes in northern Australia. The goal was to achieve government-facilitated – rather than government-led – economic growth by establishing a shared vision and strategic framework for investment facilitation in new agricultural developments across the region. This study addressed the need to coordinate the investment environment and establish a shared vision to capitalise on the opportunities presented by dynamic global markets. This approach ensures that investment opportunities are maximised for the benefit of the northern Australia’s economy and its communities. The research identified investment opportunities, target investor profiles and policy measures to de-risk investment pathways for new agricultural developments. This included the identification of prospective agriculture regions, conducting an investor market analysis, and the developing a classification model to define investor typologies and generate a targeted investor list. These outputs will be used by Austrade and State and Territory governments to drive investment outcomes in northern Australia.
