The CRC for Developing Northern Australia Ltd (ABN 43 618 131 150) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and brings together industry, university and other research bodies, SME’s, regional development organisations, all northern jurisdictions and international partners in a collaborative industry-led research and development venture to assist businesses, governments and researchers identify opportunities for business and growth in the north.
The CRCNA is investing $75 million over ten years (2017 to 2027) to deliver industry-led research and development collaborations to make doing business in the north easier, more efficient and with less risk.
CRCNA funding is developing new technologies, products and services which address industry issues unique to Northern Australia within the focus areas of: Traditional Owner-led business development; Agriculture; Aquaculture; Water security; and Health service delivery.

At the Annual General Meeting in November 2025 the terms of three Directors will conclude, they are eligible to renominate.
We are seeking nominations for highly capable, motivated, and values-driven individuals.
- Term of Office: Max 2 years (depending on organisational transition)
- Remuneration: Paid position.
The role as Director will be to:
- Govern and oversee the organisations’ operations, performance and contract completion.
- Provide advice, opinions, and independent judgement to inform Board decisions.
- Attend and participate in Board meetings and one (or more) sub-committees.
- Be active in the organisation, such as attending functions or events as a representative of the CRCNA.
Candidates should demonstrate the following qualities and skills:
- Experience and knowledge in the development of northern Australia, particularly through research and extension.
- Experience and/or training as a director of a Board.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the not-for-profit sector.
- A good understanding of governance roles.
- The ability to work collaboratively and constructively with other Directors, the Company Secretary and the Chief Executives.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
At this time in the CRCNAs life cycle the Selection Committee are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Established networks and relationships across northern Australia that can support the CRCNAs agenda and transition plan.
- A deep understanding of the issues and opportunities facing northern Australia
- Experience and knowledge leading an organisation through structural transition relative to finite term contracts.
