The Aboriginal Sea Company (ASC) have proudly delivered a commercial crabbing boat to Borroloola – a remote community on the edge of the Gulf of Carpentaria.
This marks a significant milestone for the newest ASC Mud Crab Licence Operator, Sean, who is now establishing his own fishing operation on Country using his ASC licence. Sean is focused not only on developing his own skills, but also on supporting others who want to step into the seafood industry.
“I’m grateful for the support from ASC. It’s so important that more Indigenous people get into owning and running their own businesses. That’s how we build a strong future for Sea Country and for our communities.”
— Sean, ASC Mud Crab Licence Operator
During their visit, the ASC met with community members to talk about the opportunities ASC can support – including training, licensing pathways, and access to equipment. It’s all part of our broader vision to grow First Nations-controlled marine and seafood businesses across northern Australia.
