Agricultural development across Northern Australia is shaped by complex land tenure systems and regulatory frameworks that differ across states and territories.

For landholders, consultants and industry bodies, navigating these systems can be challenging, time-consuming and costly, often creating barriers to being “development-ready” or “investment-ready”.

Supported by the CRCNA and in conjunction with industry partners, the Supporting Landholder Capacity for Quality Agricultural Developments project was designed to respond directly to this challenge. Delivered over three years, the project asked a simple but critical question: what tools, knowledge and support do landholders, and their advisors need to prepare strong, high-quality agricultural development applications?

Working in partnership with landholders, peak industry bodies, consultants and government agencies, the project developed a suite of relevant tools and resources which are publicly available. This project has laid a strong foundation for more confident, efficient and responsible agricultural development, creating a sustainable pathway to build capacity and resilience across Northern Australia’s agricultural sector.
